Kissing Ray Kelly and other updates | thepupdiary.com

11 Dec

This is our absolute favorite time of year! There are just so many fun things to do, places to go, people to meet, food to eat, parties to attend, and on and on! We are so busy that mom (our secretary) does not have time to update our blog as often as she should. Hey mom, have you even done our Christmas shopping yet?! (NO!)

This past weekend we attended the Blessing of the Animals at Christ Church on Park Avenue. Police Commissioner Ray Kelly and I shared a kiss! The event was hosted by Cindy Adams and helped raise money for Best Friends Animal Society.

We met with the Bergdorf Goodman Santa Claus — who may actually be the real Santa Claus! They published our photos on their blog celebrating #BGDogs about town. The BG Santa is on the 7th floor every Sunday.

We saw the Thanksgiving parade with front row seats! (From our secret spot at the very end of the parade.)

We toured Animal Haven Shelter with our volunteer group from A Fair Shake for Youth. We hope all of the pups find homes soon!

We helped with a fundraiser donating items to local shelters. And we attended a program with A Fair Shake for Youth where special guests Lorenzo Borghese and Bocker the Labradoodle talked about adoption and animal advocacy. Yes, we have had a very busy month!

Ghost towns, cemeteries, and haunted houses, oh my! | thepupdiary.com

17 Oct

It’s the season for spooky and scary FUN! Over the summer we visited two ghost towns out west. Find a ghost town near you!

Arlington National Cemetery

Arlington National Cemetery

Pups are also welcome at many cemeteries, which can be great places for walks and history lessons. Earlier this year we toured Arlington National Cemetery in the Washington, DC area. Leashed dogs are welcome to tour the cemetery and see the famous sites. We have also visited many beautiful cemeteries in Vermont and recently on Block Island. Permanently New Yorkers was a recommended book to find burials of the famous and infamous in New York state. The Sleepy Hollow Cemetery is on our list!

So we aren’t actually going to visit any creepy haunted houses! But we will attend some fun upcoming doggy parties with haunted house decorations! Etsch Farms will welcome pups at their corn maze on November 2. Pups on the Runway will feature spooky decor at their October 25 event. And we’ll also check out the Central Park Pumpkin Fest on October 26.

8 autumn activities for New York dogs | thepupdiary.com

23 Sep

It’s our favorite season! Cooler weather, outdoor doggy festivals, Halloween pawties, and so much more doggy fun! We listed some activities for New York dogs for spring and summer. Here are our top picks for fall:

Apple Picking
Discover Outdoors has planned some dog-friendly apple picking day trips this fall for active pups and their owners. The day activities include a moderate 6-mile hike before visiting the orchard. Cost is $89 and includes transportation.

Long Walkies
We love saying buh bye to hot and humid NYC weather and welcoming in the pawfect temps for long walkies! Fall offers many group walks like the upcoming Strut Your Mutt on September 28. The weather is also pawfect for the Walkway over the Hudson and the path along Hudson River Park. We want to Stroll to the Sea on October 12 with ARF!

Fairs and Festivals
Tis the season for outdoor festivals and fairs! The My Dog Loves Central Park Fair will be held on October 5. Old Westbury Gardens will host their dog days September 28 and 29. Taste of France comes to Bryant Park September 28 and 29. And the holiday shops at Bryant Park open on October 26.

Halloween Pawties
October is probably the busiest month to be a dog in NYC! There are several doggy Halloween parties and parades every October weekend. The Annual Tompkins Square Halloween Dog Parade on October 26 is probably the biggest. Check the event calendar for a listing of pawties and events.

Home Cooking
We just bought the new cookbook, Home Cooking for Your Dog, and we are excited to try all of the recipes! Yum!!

School
Andrea Arden Dog Training has a great lineup of classes this fall including Cures for Cabin Fever, Stay Workshops, and Taking it to the Streets. Fashion Institute of Technology offers their course in Pet Product Design and Marketing.

Window Shop
We love to tour the city and check out all of the beautiful holiday window displays. We check out all of the windows at the biggest department stores.

Top Hat and Tails
Fall is a great time to get dressed up! We’ll head to the dog-friendly SPCA of Westchester’s Top Hat and Tails event on October 18. Celebrity Catwalk’s Tinsel & Tails on December 7 is another one of our faves!

We’re on Pet Life Radio with PawVogue | thepupdiary.com

17 Jul

Our friend, Cuba from PawVogue, asked to interview us for his popular radio show on Pet Life Radio. We barked about our travels, our time on the hit reality show Doggie Moms, some of our favorite events, and doggy fashion. It was a fun show and we were happy to share some of our experiences and tips with Cuba! We revealed our two favorite doggy vacation destinations and more! You’ll have to listen to hear what we said!

Cuba’s upcoming Paw Talk Show radio guests include Andrea Arden and Dogtipper.com.
