We love lazy summer days!
Doggy Dash in Central Park | thepupdiary.com
15 JulDoggy athletes competed in Animal Medical Center’s 5-mile Doggy Dash race through Central Park yesterday morning. The doggy event, part of the Aquaphor NYC Triathlon, sells out every year. The pups were checked by Animal Medical Center’s medical staff before, during, and after the race. And the after-race festival featured cooling stations with swimming pools, beverages, and Yappy Treats Cart doggy yogurt. Yum! A big congratulations to all of the doggy athletes! You make us proud!
D Pet Hotels hosts DOGumentary screening | thepupdiary.com
11 JulPopcorn, pups, and Pinot Grigio — a pawfect way to relax on a hot and steamy summer evening. Even more pawfect, the aforementioned treats were at D Pet Hotels in Chelsea for the special screening of The DOGumentary: New York City’s Most Talented Dogs. The short film, produced by Pet Vérité, featured dogs doing what they do best – playing, romping, skateboarding, loving, kissing, modeling . . . even hula hooping! Most touching to us were the rescue stories where we often wondered who rescued who.
Inspired by NYC’s pups who are involved in “everything from sports to fashion to charity work”, Pet Vérité sent out a casting call earlier this year looking for undiscovered amateur dogs to come in and show their talent. Dozens of dogs accepted the call and headed to D Pet Hotels in Chelsea to film. Pet Vérité captured so many cute and candid moments in The DOGumentary. We think a CATumentary should follow! If you’d like your own custom doggy video, check the Pet Vérité website for details.
Wagging tails at the Wigglebutt Wedding | thepupdiary.com
10 JulThere was lots of buzz leading up to the Wigglebutt Wedding, a “fun”draiser for Life’s Little Paws Cocker Spaniel Rescue held in Stratford, Connecticut the end of June. There were bridal fittings, cake tastings, special jeweled collar offerings, radio and TV appearances, PR releases, special Facebook pages . . . We have attended several doggy weddings where two pooches tie the knot and seal their relationship with a bark, a wag, and a butt sniff. But this Wigglebutt Wedding takes the (doggy) cake!
We have not even seen this much detail in many human weddings! (Not that two terriers are usually invited to human weddings – BOL!) From the Miniature-dogs-cats.com cake topper to the Bandit Rubio designed gown to the beautiful floral displays — Dexter and Zoe were some pampered pooches! And mom actually ate our Giggy Bites dog snacks!! Note to mom: don’t eat and drive! We had Bubba Rose doggy cake and Halo Pet treats – yum! The two doggy moms, Carol and Val, are busy planning another “fun”draiser for next year! Can’t wait to see what they have planned.
