20 FebWe were so excited to attend the Re-tails & Sales Pet Expo yesterday at Honda of Manhattan on the west side. The snow and rain were not going to keep us away from the 20 companies who came out to showcase their American crafted and sourced products. Is the “Made in America” seal important to dog owners and lovers?! We think so!! Especially when it comes to food, health products, and toys! We were thrilled to see the variety and quality of companies presenting at the event and will even add a few of the products to our routines. We also learned there is actually a kale treat for pups! And a doggy PetPlus prescription program! Who knew?!
Four made in the USA pet products we will be adding to our daily routine: Pet Portables small first aid kit handy ego carrier, Primal Pet Foods freeze-dried dinners, Dr. Emmo’s Ear Rinse, and Bessie Barnie reflective harnesses. Mom was also very interested in the escape-proof Harness Lead, but it is made for larger pups (14 lbs and up).
Three made in the USA products we would like to try: Fresh and Fluffy dry shampoo – it actually comes in a powdered form, Groovy Gravy flavor boost, and Earth Animal oral hygiene products. Their natural flea and tick treatments look interesting, too!

If Life is Grruff is in the hood, the room will smell delish!! They are huge supporters of animal rescue and events and we love their all-natural treats! Small pups can be finicky eaters and we give them a paws ups! They had a large display of yummy treats! Every doggy store should have some pretty, tasty, and natural treats for pups!

17 FebToday we celebrate George Washington’s birthday! It’s also a day to celebrate and remember all presidents. Lucky for us, there are many dog-friendly places we can visit to learn about the presidents and the history of our country.
Washington, DC – We love to visit the DC area! We can frolic on the National Mall, take a dog-friendly river cruise, see the FDR Memorial up close, visit a winery, and so much more! Read the post on our recent trip to dog-friendly Washington, DC.
FDR Memorial
Arlington National Cemetery – Such a beautiful and peaceful place to visit. Leashed pups are welcome to tour the grounds, too! See the final resting place for JFK.
Mount Vernon: A trip to the Washington, DC area would not be complete without a visit to George Washington’s Mount Vernon, 15 miles south of the city. Leashed dogs are welcome to tour the grounds during daytime visiting hours.
Monticello: Leashed dogs are welcome on Thomas Jefferson’s Monticello grounds, too!
Home of Franklin D Roosevelt: This is a beautiful area to visit about 90 miles north of NYC in Hyde Park. We toured the estate grounds including the beautiful rose gardens!
Mount Rushmore: Dogs are NOT allowed inside Mount Rushmore Memorial park. Leashed pups are welcome outside the park with a very distant view of the monument. We stopped at Mount Rushmore on a cross-country trip 2 years ago!

13 FebWhat do you get when you cross some Pup Scouts with a Puccini? A fun dog-friendly party raising over $1,300 for the Mayor’s Alliance for NYC’s Animals! Puccini, a Maltipoo on a mission, decided to dedicate his 6th birthday party to one of his favorite causes – homeless animals. He enlisted his Pup Scout doggy friends to help out by donating their time and talents to the cause.
Puccini’s party kicked off Pet Fashion Week and pups from around the nation came to wish him a pawsome year. Held at Honda of Manhattan on the west side, party goers enjoyed food, drinks, doggy treats, a silent auction, games, and photo opps. Dawn Deisler made an amazing doggy portrait cake!
