Prince Harry is in town | thepupdiary.com
14 MayWe met Prince Harry a couple years ago at a polo match on Governors Island. Well actually, dogs are not allowed on Governors Island, so mom met him without us . . .
Prince Harry is back in New York City this week and according to the papers, has a busy schedule. He is visiting youth, touring Super Storm Sandy areas, and of course, playing polo. The invitation-only fourth annual Sentebale Royal Salute Polo Cup charity polo match at Greenwich Polo Club takes place May 15. We did not score a ticket to this one!
Doggies are welcome at many polo matches in the area. The Greenwich Polo Club season begins on June 2. Gates open at 1 pm and games begin at 3 pm. There is a $40 fee per car. Bring a picnic and enjoy the beautiful scenery!
Celebrity Catwalk Paws in the City at The Salty Paw | thepupdiary.com
13 MayAlthough it was raining cats and dogs Saturday afternoon, we ventured out and headed down to the new Salty Paw boutique at the end of Pier 17 at the Seaport. (Read The Salty Paw’s Super Storm Sandy story here.) Celebrity Catwalk was hosting an event to promote their upcoming Paws in the City fashion show, which will take place on June 1 at Calumet Gallery. Fashion designers from around the globe are busy putting the finishing touches on their outfits that will be worn by over a dozen furry fashionista doggy models. Yes, we are modeling in this one! You don’t want to miss this fun event so get your tickets soon!
We absolutely love The Salty Paw’s new summer home at the end of the Pier! (This will be one of our fave summer hangouts!) Not only do they carry the most fun and practical doggy items (they have one of the best selections of local doggy treats in the area), they also have a wonderful water view, a friendly staff, and creative groomers! If you are looking to add a touch of color to your doggy fur coat, this is the place to come! Oh and did we mention that they have treat SAMPLES all around the boutique. YUM!! Celebrity Catwalk had goody bags for everyone with Wahl dog shampoo and other items. (Mom loved the Reena Treats cupcakes!)
The Salty Paw’s summer location: 89 South Street, the end of Pier 17 at the Seaport – walk outside to the end of the Pier and you will see their signs! The East River Ferry allows small dogs in bags and is a convenient way to visit the area.
And don’t forget to visit Celebrity Catwalk for tickets and upcoming event information!

Sandy’s Rescue Pals helps shelter dogs find homes | thepupdiary.com
9 MayWe were so lucky to meet Sunny, the rescued pup who currently stars on Broadway as Sandy in Annie. Bill Berloni visited A Fair Shake for Youth last fall with the pup to talk about rescuing animals, community service, and “walking the talk”. Sunny was rescued from BARC Municipal Animal Shelter in Houston, Texas hours before she was scheduled to be put to sleep. Bill is a special man with a special gift and a very kind heart!
Sandy’s Rescue Pals, which launched yesterday, will showcase adoptable pups from Bobbi and the Strays each week at the Wednesday matinee performance of Annie. The audience is treated to a special intermission doggy meet and greet where prospective adopters can talk to shelter staff and fill out adoption applications. This new adoption program is sponsored by PEDIGREE and the first 15 adopted pups will receive a year supply of PEDIGREE food.
Pedigree has also teamed with Annie to raise $1 million for shelter animals. For each Annie the Musical ticket sold through December 31, 2013, PEDIGREE will donate $2, up to $1 million, to PEDIGREE Foundation, a nonprofit organization dedicated to helping dogs find loving homes.
