Pups parade on Easter day |

22 Apr

We got up bright and early on Easter Sunday and headed to Fifth Avenue for the annual New York City Easter parade. Many visitors and guests were expecting an actual parade with marching bands and flowering floats. In reality, people just gather along Fifth Avenue north of 49th Street and admire beautiful Easter bonnets and colorful outfits. Some folks seem to wear updated Halloween costumes. I guess that’s one way to reuse a costume! Our friend Dawn from Bespoke Canine made bright and cheery yellow outfits for us. We had fun posing for photos and strolling along the Avenue. The weather was perfect and everyone seemed to be happy! Spring has finally arrived in the urban jungle!

Made in America Re-Tails and Sales Expo |

20 Feb

We were so excited to attend the Re-tails & Sales Pet Expo yesterday at Honda of Manhattan on the west side. The snow and rain were not going to keep us away from the 20 companies who came out to showcase their American crafted and sourced products. Is the “Made in America” seal important to dog owners and lovers?! We think so!! Especially when it comes to food, health products, and toys! We were thrilled to see the variety and quality of companies presenting at the event and will even add a few of the products to our routines. We also learned there is actually a kale treat for pups! And a doggy PetPlus prescription program! Who knew?!

Four made in the USA pet products we will be adding to our daily routine: Pet Portables small first aid kit handy ego carrier, Primal Pet Foods freeze-dried dinners, Dr. Emmo’s Ear Rinse, and Bessie Barnie reflective harnesses. Mom was also very interested in the escape-proof Harness Lead, but it is made for larger pups (14 lbs and up).

Three made in the USA products we would like to try: Fresh and Fluffy dry shampoo – it actually comes in a powdered form, Groovy Gravy flavor boost, and Earth Animal oral hygiene products. Their natural flea and tick treatments look interesting, too!

Sponsored by Long Island Pet Professionals, Whitegate PR, and Pet Age, the event featured made-in-America products that are must-haves for every pet household. We can’t wait to try some of the samples we received and let you know how they work!

If Life is Grruff is in the hood, the room will smell delish!! They are huge supporters of animal rescue and events and we love their all-natural treats! Small pups can be finicky eaters and we give them a paws ups! They had a large display of yummy treats! Every doggy store should have some pretty, tasty, and natural treats for pups!

Dog party with a purpose |

13 Feb

What do you get when you cross some Pup Scouts with a Puccini? A fun dog-friendly party raising over $1,300 for the Mayor’s Alliance for NYC’s Animals! Puccini, a Maltipoo on a mission, decided to dedicate his 6th birthday party to one of his favorite causes – homeless animals. He enlisted his Pup Scout doggy friends to help out by donating their time and talents to the cause.

Puccini’s party kicked off Pet Fashion Week and pups from around the nation came to wish him a pawsome year. Held at Honda of Manhattan on the west side, party goers enjoyed food, drinks, doggy treats, a silent auction, games, and photo opps. Dawn Deisler made an amazing doggy portrait cake!

Barkfest at Bonhams |

11 Feb

Did we tell you we love this time of year when the Westminster dogs take over New York City?! One of our fave annual events each February is the Barkfest at Bonhams on Madison Avenue. What could be better than dogs, art, and biscuits? And the event also raises money for the AKC Humane Fund!

Dogs and Art!

Dogs and Art!

The brunch is a fun preview to the Dogs in Show & Field fine art sale taking place February 12. There are beautiful paintings, pins, plates, sculptures — all with a doggy theme! A John Martin Tracy painting valued at over $100,000 is one of the show stoppers! This year they had 2 showrooms with so much to look at:

Best of all they had homemade doggy biscuits and a nice goody bag. We got our own bag of Ryan’s Barkery treats and some other cool stuff.
