Last night we attended a Celebrity Catwalk event featuring adoptable dogs, fashion, drama, more fashion, more drama, and fun! We’ll write full details later and also post some photos! In the meantime, check out some of the dogs on the catwalk in the video we took at the event. Furry paws hit the runway in the city!
Duck Tape pop-up in Midtown | thepupdiary.com
22 AprWe can find just about everything in New York City! Including a very cool temporary Duck Tape pop-up shop at 1411 Broadway that will remain open until April 28. Cool duct tape products – dresses, shoes, purses, flowers – are displayed inside the colorful store. But noticeably missing are doggy-themed tapes and Duck Tape constructed doggy gowns! Have no fear, the “paw print” line is coming soon and should be on sale within the next few months.
A standard roll of tape (think bright colors and cool patterns) will set you back about $6. Mini rolls are available for half that amount. Guest artist, Chance Foreman, created a pretty New York skyline out of the Duck Tape. Project Runway contestant designs were in window displays. We have some ideas of our own for a doggy gown! What a fun shop! Very friendly staff, too!
A portion of the proceeds of sales are donated to Autism Speaks Light it Up Blue campaign.
The shop, located on Broadway between 39th and 40th Streets, is open through Sunday, April 28. Monday to Friday from 11 to 7, Saturday from 10 to 6 and Sunday from 10 to 5.

Meet Fashion Institute of Technology pet product designers | thepupdiary.com
11 AprPet News Now hosted their Home & Garden Pet Product Showcase yesterday at the Roger Smith Hotel on Lexington Avenue in East Midtown. We got some great product samples that we will check out and review in the next coming week. We also met the creators of the CritterZone Air Purifier. Pretty cool since we had previously written a product review and like the product!
We love to support up-and-coming designers, so we were thrilled to meet some of the Fashion Institute of Technology’s Pet Product Design and Marketing students and graduates!
Check out this cute Statue of Liberty doggy sweatshirt and coordinating toy from Les Pets en Voyage! Abby Kass designs New York-themed clothing and toys for pets and the people who love them. The Statue of Liberty shirt will be available later this spring at around $60.
We have a hard time finding nice leather leashes in fashionable colors. Enter Bespoke Canine and their gorgeous carriers, collars, leashes, and clothing. Love them! The leashes have interchangeable handles and tassels. Dawn works in fashion and knows her way around luxury materials and fabulous design. Custom orders are also accepted.
Designer Cheryl Jackson of Pink Diamond Paws is launching male and female doggy designs later this year. She offers cute male outfits, which are often hard to find. The matchy matchy male/female ensembles are fun.
We are buying the Stella & Me matching doggy coats and human vests! Love them! They are not only cute, but very practical! The set is $110 and is made in America.
Very cute Asian-themed Polydactyl cat toys. We asked if doggy toys would be launched soon? We shall see!
Pretty in pink – we’re in The New York Times | thepupdiary.com
9 AprWe were out and about Easter Sunday wearing our Sunday-best outfits. Bill Cunningham from The New York Times was also out and about covering his On the Street photo diary of folks dressed up for the Fifth Avenue Easter parade. He snapped a candid photo of Cubby as she walked along the Avenue with her pink ruffles bouncing in the wind. A pretty in pink pup!

NYC Tartan Day Parade | thepupdiary.com
8 AprWesties, Scotties, and ponies — oh my!! Just under 100 cute terriers marched in NYC’s annual Tartan Day Parade this year on Saturday afternoon. We met along West 44th Street to greet the other doggies, listen to the bands practice, and ooh and aah over cute pups dressed in Highland kilts. We even met the famous “sweater” ponies who are promoting Scottish tourism. The Shetland ponies were so cute and so calm. Especially with dozens of yapping terriers all around them! The marching kicked off around 2 pm. We headed north on Sixth Avenue up to Central Park. Most of our friends had a doggy lunch date in the park. Mom had to get us home early for another event . . . Our pup diary is always full!
